Born in 1994, Laura lives and works in Belgium. With a background in political sciences, it’s through activism that she entered the cultural world. Tired of not seeing black creators and artists represented in the art sector in Belgium, she joined the Black History Month (BHM) in 2019 initiative in Belgium to curate cultural events in Brussels and Bruges in collaboration with places such as the Beursschouwburg, the Cultuurcentrum Brugge, the Muntpunt and the Afrika FilmFestival.
Since 2022, Laura has joined the team of Africalia managing the Belgian programme focused on inclusivity in the art sector. With friends and past BHM collaborators, she also launched in 2023 the curators collective “Som.m.e of us” focused on showcasing artists and creators of African descent. Laura is always looking for new talents and spaces to put under the spotlight.
