Lyse Vancampenhoudt is an art historian (ULB) specialising in gender studies (master’s degree in gender studies). Her research focuses on the representation of women* as artists and actors in the art world in Belgium, and on the links between fashion and art history. Between 2017 and 2021 she worked as a freelance tour guide in various Brussels institutions (MrBAB, the Centrale for contemporary art, Arkadia, Wiels, Maison Autrique, etc.). She focuses on inclusion and gender issues in museums, which she integrates into the mediation tools she develops: feminist guided tours (Musée Fin-de-Siècle, MrBAB, 2019; La vie matérielle, Centrale for contemporary art, 2020), visitors’ guidebooks (Maison d’Erasme, with Rémi Rupprecht and Azam Masoumzadeh, 2022,…), educational videos (L’art moderne, question de genre?, Be Modern, MrBAB, 2021; Marthe Donas, Musée Marthe Donas, 2024,…). Alongside her work as a mediator, she is continuing her research. Initially a scientific resident at ISELP (2020-2021), she obtained an FNRS grant in 2021 (“Women artists in Belgium (1945-1970) : artistic networks at the museum institution, writing of new narratives. The cases of Jane Graverol, Suzanne Van Damme, Anne Bonnet, Berthe Dubail”, co-promotion Université Catholique de Louvain and the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium). She is co-curator, with Eve Delplanque, of the exhibition Si le cœur vous en dit. Artistes femmes au XXe siècle en Belgique, Musée des Beaux-Arts de Charleroi – 21.09.2024 – 16.02.2025. She is also the author of exhibition reviews in her notebook Hypothèses.
