Maëlle DUFOUR (1994, Belgium) is a visual artist living and working in Brussels, Belgium. She is laureate of the HISK (Higher Institute for Fine Arts) Ghent 2022-23. She studied in sculpture at ENSAV – La Cambre in Brussels, and at the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts in Helsinki. Since 2014, her work has been exhibited extensively in Belgium and internationally. She has taken part in prestigious events such as the, Triennale Beaufort, Triennale Art Public (BE), Biennale de Mulhouse (FR), Artagon III (presided over by Hans Ulrich Obrist in Paris, FR), Biennale Artour (BE), Free Space for Arts (FI), and the Sartene Cultural Centre (FR).
Her work is regularly showcased in art institutions such as the BPS22 (BE), Kunsthal Extra City (BE), Kanal Centre Pompidou (BE), Centre Wallonie Bruxelles de Paris (FR), Universidad de Conception (CL), and Delta (BE). She has had solo exhibitions in places such as Les Brasseurs (BE), L’ISELP (BE) and MAAC (BE). Maëlle Dufour was also invited as an artist in residence at RAVI (BE), MAAC ( BE), Shake Résidence Nomade (TU), Drugstore Beograd (SR), Cinema Mele (IT), BPS22 (BE) and Alumi Startwell (NL). In 2022, she created an artistic integration for the prison of Haren (Brussels, BE).
Her work has been rewarded with prizes, notably « Le Prix d’encouragement de Sculpture, 2021 » from the Institut de France, « Prix Sofam, 2019 », « Prix de la Commission des Arts de Wallonie, 2018 », « Prix de la Jeune Sculpture de la FWB, 2020 », « Prix Macors, 2021 », and the « Prix du Hainaut, 2018 ». Following the latter award, she published a book titled « Construire la ruine » in November 2021 under CFC editions. She has also benefited from several grants such as « Vocatio, 2022 », « Aide à la création, 2019 and 2021 », « Un Futur pour la Culture, 2021 », and « Cocof, 2021 ».
