Born in Nantes in 1983, Amélie Scotta is graduated in Design and Arts from HEAR Strasbourg (2008) and ENSAV La Cambre Brussels (2016). From her studies, she participated in various exhibitions, residencies (The Moonens Foundation, Casa de Velazquez, Cité internationale des Arts, Villa Empain…) and was the laureate of Art Prizes (Cocof, Carré sur Seine, Ville de Tournai, Canson…).

Amélie’s work is inspired by stories connected to the specific urban environment where she evolves, often blurring the boundaries between real and fictional. She evokes a violent environment full of contradictions and inequalities, without renouncing to a certain form of poetry. She likes drawing for its modest nature in terms of means, demanding mostly discipline and time: a time that she allows herself, and which is a way of approaching this contemporary frenzy with perspective, patience and humility.
